About the Course
Developed as part of the LEGO Foundation’s Play for All Accelerator, this CPD-accredited training helps healthcare professionals create care experiences that benefit neurodivergent children and their families, while also strengthening their own confidence, communication, and effectiveness in their professional role.
By combining evidence-based insights, lived experience, and practical examples, the modules help professionals move from awareness to action, helping children feel understood, families feel supported, and professionals feel equipped to deliver truly inclusive, compassionate care.
Module A - Understanding Neurodevelopmental Conditions and Inclusive Care
Discover how to provide more inclusive, effective care for neurodiverse children and their families. This course explores communication and sensory differences, barriers to healthcare, and the importance of recognising every child’s voice. Learn practical ways to reduce inequalities, improve outcomes, and create a more supportive healthcare environment for all.
Module B - Making Supportive Adjustments in Practice
Learn practical, evidence-based strategies to better support neurodivergent children in healthcare settings. This course focuses on the first three steps of the P.A.U.S.E framework, a new, evidence-informed model created by the Little Journey team, helping professionals anticipate needs, reduce anxiety, and create more inclusive, sensory-aware care environments. It was designed specifically to support healthcare staff with simple, practical, and effective strategies.
Module C - Relational and Responsive Care
Explore how to deliver truly personalised, relationship-based care for neurodivergent children and families. Focusing on 'Support Personalisation and Advocacy' and 'Empathise and Engage', this course helps healthcare professionals build trust, promote emotional safety, and respond effectively to distress with empathy and confidence.
Module D - Learning Through Play in Healthcare
Discover how play can transform healthcare experiences for children. This course explores play as a therapeutic and communication tool, backed by research on its role in coping, autonomy, and self-regulation. Learn inclusive, practical play strategies to reduce anxiety, support engagement, and enhance care throughout the healthcare journey.
