Challenges

Burdensome protocol

This study presented significant operational risk. The protocol included multiple endoscopies under general anaesthetic for an already approved drug, creating a high burden for patients and caregivers.

High expected dropout rate

The sponsor anticipated a 75% dropout rate, putting timelines and data completeness at risk. They needed to reduce dropout without adding further burden to already stretched site teams.
