Background
Trial Flow delivered measurable improvements in retention, timelines and site engagement in a complex global gastroenterology study with a high-burden protocol.
Study details: 68 patients enrolled | 35 sites | 9 countries | 16 languages
Challenges
Burdensome protocol
This study presented significant operational risk. The protocol included multiple endoscopies under general anaesthetic for an already approved drug, creating a high burden for patients and caregivers.
High expected dropout rate
The sponsor anticipated a 75% dropout rate, putting timelines and data completeness at risk. They needed to reduce dropout without adding further burden to already stretched site teams.
Our solution
Protocol-aligned support for patients and caregivers
Trial Flow was configured to deploy a study-branded app to directly address these barriers:
- Targeted education to prepare patients and caregivers for endoscopy and anaesthesia
- Clear, structured guidance across each stage of the study
- Engaging content including virtual tours, caregiver information, and distraction tools
- Support designed to improve both understanding and emotional readiness
This ensured patients were better prepared, more confident, and more likely to remain engaged throughout the trial.
